For our project, we sought out to better understand what our individual creative processes were and be able to compare and contrast them with one another. We hoped to delve into how a writer's process and the subject of their work is influenced by the mode of writing they are engaging with.
To research this, all of us responded to the same simple prompt: what were we doing over winter break? In around 350 words, we answered this question through the following mediums: a listicle, a creative nonfiction piece, and a travel blog. We noted what conditions we wrote in, and we screen-recorded our computers while we made the compositions.

From analyzing our screen recordings and reflections, we learned about the following:
  • The difference between drafting, then editing versus drafting and editing at the same time
  • The relationship between time spent on a composition and the writer's environment
  • Adherence to prompt depends on flexibility of modes
  • Intention of editing varies on the mode and writer - conciseness versus flow
  • Quality of writing can't be judged by the process
